Surgery tomorrow!

  1. My Jax is a 6 yr old Bull Mastiff. He’s getting his right hind amputated tomorrow at 7am. He’s been in pain for a few weeks so I’m nervous and excited all at the same time. Excited of course for him to be pain free!praying it goes smoothly and he deals well with the surgery.

    1. Thank you, Dawn3g! We appreciate it and I’ll let you know how it goes. I’ll definitely be anxious to get him home Saturday.

  1. I remember that feeling as well…. nervous but also anxious for them to hurry up and get that hurty leg off! I will be thinking of you both. I’m sure Jax will get through it no problem. Definitely lean on the Tripawds forums for help and guidance during the first week post-op. <3

  2. Just catching up on your sweet Jax!

Ohhhh yes, we understand the stress and fear all too well! You are doi g this FOR Jax and nkt TO Jax! Always remember that…especw during recovery! Recovery is no’picnic for a couple of weeks!

Will check back later but just wanted to remind you we are all here for you and cheering for HANDSOME JAX!!

Not sure how much you’ve been reading on here about being prepared for recovery…nonslip rugs for traction if you have hardwoods, etc. So just let us know any questions you have, okay?

BtTW, my Happy Hannzh was a “fluffy” Bull Mastiff and handled three legs like a Champ! So give Jax an extra treat when he gets home for us! Nothing prettier than seeing a Bull Mastiff drool while waiting for their cookie!

    Hugs and love

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

    1. Thank you, benny55! Considering he’s just had major surgery and minus a limb he’s doing extremely well. He seems a little down but I may be confusing “down” with being exhausted from what he’s gone through and considering he’s a Mastiff although he’s a leaner Mastiff, he’s still a big dog so simply walking to go pee seems exhausting for him. Once he’s fully physically recovered maybe take him swimming for rehab to help his fitness level?

I compare his situation to us hopping on one foot every where which I’m out of breath immediately lol so I’m giving him lots of treats and staying positive for him.

Do dogs eventually lay on the side of the missing limb?
